NEWS FROM THE GATEACRE SOCIETY (May 2003)

Our next meeting:

A talk on the
Historic
Environment of
Liverpool
Project
by John Stonard
of English Heritage

The HELP campaign was launched by English Heritage and Liverpool City Council in March 2002, and is scheduled to run for three years. It has been described as 'a first-of-its-kind exploration of Liverpool's historic buildings, streets and open spaces, designed to give a better understanding of what makes Liverpool's historic environment special and to ensure that its potential to contribute to the city's long-term development is fully realised'.

John Stonard is the HELP Co-ordinator and will be describing the project in more detail, including initiatives such as the Heritage Mapping programme, the Buildings at Risk strategy, Public Opinion surveys and Educational Resource development. He will also, we hope, be explaining to us how local groups such as the Gateacre Society can play a part in the project.

Tuesday 20th May, 8 p.m.
at Gateacre Chapel Hall,
Sandfield Road, Liverpool L25
