The Gateacre Society will not be participating directly in the Civic Trust's Heritage Open Days programme this year, but we are happy to publicise the following local events:

Gateacre Unitarian Chapel (1700), Gateacre Brow, Liverpool L25 3PB.
Open 1 pm - 5 pm.
St Stephen's Church (1874), Belle Vale Road, Liverpool L25 2PQ.
Open 10.30 am - 4 pm.
These events have been organised by the respective congregations, and both will include exhibitions of photographs and memorabilia.

THE OWEN SISTERS REMEMBER
Friday 14th September

As mentioned in our last Newsletter, two sisters - Ella and Elizabeth - who grew up in Gateacre in the 1920s and 30s will be revisiting the area on 14th September. We shall be showing them round, and then listening to their reminiscences over coffee in mid-afternoon. Anyone who would like to come along to the discussion will be very welcome to join us. If you have any memories or photographs of your own, please bring them along. For confirmation of the time and venue, contact our Committee member Rosemary Doman (722 6368).

LIVERPOOL'S BIG HISTORY SHOW
Saturday 15th September

The Liverpool 800 Big History Show, organised by BBC Radio Merseyside, takes place at St George's Hall, Liverpool city centre, from 14th-16th Sept. We are sharing an exhibition and sales table with our friends the Wavertree and Woolton Societies, and 'our' day for looking after the table will be Saturday 15th. Admission, costing £2, will be via the new St George's Hall Visitor Centre in St John's Lane. Opening hours have not yet been confirmed, but are expected to be 10 am - 4 pm.
