THIS GATEACRE GIRL
IS 100 YEARS OLD
ON 11th JUNE!

Our oldest member, Mrs Edna Thomas, celebrates her 100th birthday this month. She was born Edna Johnson on the 11th June 1910 in one of the four little cottages which used to stand in Out Lane, where her grandmother lived. She went to the Much Woolton school at age 3, and remembers them using slates to write on. Then the family moved to Rose Cottage (originally numbered No.19, but nowadays No.78) Halewood Road, and Edna became a pupil at Gateacre C of E School. She has since moved - but only a little way along Halewood Road!
