An illustrated talk by Glyn Brown on Monday 3rd June
at 7.30 pm in Gateacre Chapel, Gateacre Brow L25 3PB
Glyn Brown has been in the ambulance service since 1973. Originally based at Lower Breck Road, he is now stationed at Maghull. He started looking after the history side of the service in 1986, after finding an old ambulance collecting dust at the back of Lower Breck Road station. From this vehicle and a few cap badges, his collection has grown to 5 vehicles, over 200 badges, equipment from WW2 to the present day, uniforms, books and photographs.
Glyn's talk will cover the story of the ambulance service in the North West from the 1880s onwards. It will take in the initial running of the service, the vehicles (initially horse-drawn, then motorised), training and control rooms.
ALL WELCOME. Admission free of charge (Donations invited)
