NEWS FROM THE GATEACRE SOCIETY (Mar.2015):

The THREAT to our Green Spaces: what you can do NOW

We thank all those who submitted comments on the Liverpool Local Plan representations (see last Newsletter) regarding our local Green Spaces. The Mayor of Liverpool has now set up a Strategic Green and Open Spaces Review Board, chaired by Simon O'Brien. This committee will "look at ways to help Liverpool retain its many and diverse green and open spaces" and, at the end of 2015, it will submit recommendations to the Mayor and the Council.

Members of the board are holding public meetings around the city between 10th and 28th March. They want people to come forward with "creative ideas" that will help to enhance Liverpool's green and open spaces. At each event there will be a short presentation, followed by a question and answer session.

The meeting for our local area - covering Childwall, Belle Vale and Woolton wards - takes place on Saturday 28th March  (10.30 am - 12 noon) at St James Church Hall, Church Road South, L25 7RJ

Following the ward visits, the Board will hold three themed workshops - on Accessibility, Finance and Stewardship - in April and May 2015. These workshops will be for invited groups and individuals. To register an interest in one of the workshops, please contact the Board via the Council's website:
