Our April meeting:
THE TERRIBLE TALE OF GIN
A talk by Michael Murphy
on Monday 11th April at 7.30 pm
in Gateacre Chapel, Gateacre Brow, Liverpool L25 3PB
Mike Murphy has proved to be a very entertaining and popular speaker in the past, and we have invited him back to give another talk from his varied repertoire. 'The Terrible Tale of Gin' is a semi-serious look at the eighteenth century Gin Craze in London. It will cover the social effects which it had, the significant people who attempted to tackle it, and how it was eventually overcome. The talk will also describe how the craze returned - in a lesser form - in the nineteenth century.
