NEWS FROM THE GATEACRE SOCIETY (Jan.2013):

ST GREGORY'S SITE
Halewood Road

Despite objections from ourselves and local residents, planning permission for a private four-storey apartment block on the site of St Gregory's House - between Hollymead Close and Elm House Mews - was granted by the City Council in February 2009. The Victorian building has since been demolished, and its site has changed hands more than once as housing market conditions have changed. Now a housing association - Plus Dane Group, who already manage the Ribble Road estate locally - has applied for planning permission (ref. 13F/0080) to build a four-storey block of elderly persons flats (age 50+) for rent/sale/shared ownership. The plan is for 20 flats (8 one-bedroomed and 12 two-bedroomed) within the footprint of the previous scheme (which envisaged 9 two-bedroomed plus 5 three-bedroomed units). Any comments should be sent to the Council's Planning Department (see our website for details, or notices on local lamp-posts) by 14th February.
