Graham Dodd, retired from a career in the chemical industry, is Vice Chairman of the Nantwich Historical Society. He will tell the story of the amalgam of canals making up the 'Shropshire Union'. He will trace the development of the canals of the Shropshire coalfield, the Chester Canal, the Ellesmere Canal and the Montgomeryshire Canal - along with the Birmingham & Liverpool Junction Canal which completed the 'main line'. He will also bring the story up-to-date and talk about the canal's promising future.
