The Brown Cow in Gateacre was originally within the township of Much Woolton. Part of the current building was built in 1818, and extended in the 1830s. The building became a pub in 1845, but was only half its present size, the other half being an attached house. It was knocked through and given its mock Tudor appearance in 1904 by William Hall Walker.
