NEWS FROM THE GATEACRE SOCIETY (Sep. 2012):

Forthcoming events:

Saturday 8th September
HERITAGE OPEN DAY at Gateacre Unitarian Chapel.

The chapel on Gateacre Brow was built in 1700 and is still in regular use. It will be open to visitors on 8th September between 10am and 3pm as part of Liverpool Heritage Open Month. Members of the congregation will be there to show visitors around, and refreshments will be available. The Gateacre Society will have a selection of old photographs, etc., on display.

Saturday 15th September
HERITAGE OPEN DAY at St Stephen's Parish Church.

The church in Belle Vale Road was built in 1874 and has been Gateacre's parish church since 1893. Members of the congregation will be on hand from 10am to 4pm to guide visitors, and a selection of archive material will be available for inspection. Once again the Gateacre Society will be participating with a photographic display.

Sunday 30th September
A GUIDED WALK along Belle Vale Road.

We shall be rounding off our season of walks with a 90 minute stroll from Grange Lane to Wambo Lane, looking at how this once-rural area has changed and talking about the people and events which have shaped its history. Meet on the village green, by the Wilson Memorial Fountain on the corner of Grange Lane and Gateacre Brow, at 1.45pm. All welcome.

Sunday 14th October
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING of the Gateacre Society.

Our 38th A.G.M. will take place in Gateacre Chapel at 2pm on 14th October. Existing members of the Society are urged to attend, and prospective members will be very welcome.
