NEWS FROM THE GATEACRE SOCIETY (May 2014):

RECENT PLANNING DECISIONS

Liverpool City Council's Planning Committee discussed both the Black Bull and the Falstaff planning applications (see last Newsletter) at its meeting on 8th April.

At the Black Bull (ref. 13F/2764) planning permission has been granted to use a 6 x 4 metre area of the forecourt as an outdoor seating area on a temporary basis (to 30th April 2015) "during which time the impact on the surrounding residents can be satisfactorily monitored". Several conditions have been imposed, e.g. no more than 5 tables, no consumption of food and drink outside the hours of 11.30-18.00 on any day, and use of the tables and chairs to be restricted by means of a wire chain outside the permitted hours.

At the Falstaff (ref. 13F/0625) planning permission has been granted to erect 12 detached houses following demolition of the pub. Conditions have been imposed to ensure that the eastern (i.e. Gateacre Park Drive) boundary of the site will remain open in nature. A 4 metre strip - without any gates, walls or fences - will be "subject to heavy tree planting" and will have to be maintained "in perpetuity" by the land owners.
