On the 4th February we were entranced with an afternoon of musical nostalgia by Roger Browne. Roger focused on the “Great American Songbook” of the early 20th century. He gave us a brief history of his musical career from the late 1940’s onwards becoming inspired by the Blues scene of the American South and Tin Pan Alley of 1920’s New York.
Roger featured and performed music by Jerome Kern, Goerge Gerswhin, Cole Porter, Richard Rogers and Irving Berlin covering many of the classic films 1950’s-1960’s including Oklahoma, Sound of Music, Singing in the Rain.
Roger obviously enjoys his career/hobby and could have given us 2 hours instead of one. A really brilliant afternoon of magical entertainment.
Regards
Albert
